FloodMark is built to need as little about you as possible.

What we collect

Flood reports you create: the location of the hazard, its type and severity, and any street or note you add. Reports are public, that is the point of the app, and they delete themselves after 24 hours unless another driver confirms the hazard is still there.

Your device location is used on your phone to place your pin and center your map. Your own location is never stored on our servers and never shared. Only the location of a hazard you choose to report is sent.

What we do not collect

Flood reports carry no accounts, no names, no email addresses and no phone numbers, and we keep no location history. The only personal details FloodMark ever holds are the ones you choose to type into the optional insurance quote form below, and only with your consent.

Data sharing

Active flood reports are published in a public data feed so navigation and community partners (for example the Waze for Cities program) can warn other drivers. A report contains only the hazard location and the details you entered, never anything that identifies you.

Website analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use, in aggregate. It helps us understand whether the map is reaching drivers. Google Analytics sets its own cookies; we do not use it to identify you personally and we do not connect it to flood reports or insurance form details.

Optional insurance quotes

The insurance quote form is optional and separate from flood reporting. If you fill it in and tick the consent box, we store your current insurance provider, ZIP code, car year, make and model, monthly payment, and your email address if you choose to give one, together with the date and the version of this disclosure you agreed to. We share those details with insurance partners so they can send you competing quotes and offers, including by email where you gave one.

Your flood reports are never linked to this information. The form receives no report from you and no location more exact than the ZIP code you type. We keep quote requests until you ask us to delete yours, which you can do any time through the contact route below, and deleting it also withdraws it from any future sharing. Nothing in this section changes how flood reports work: they stay anonymous and expire in 24 hours.
